The Problem Tracing back to the origins of period care, mainstream tampons and pads were intentionally designed to be inserted or removed without having to touch one’s body directly. It was seen as gross, even sexual to do as such. And as a result, women have been given period products that boast the need for discretion over comfort or protection.

We were challenged with bringing a fresh approach to an otherwise considered 'gross' alternative to typical period products, while highlighting the many benefits of using a menstrual cup.

The Strategy By explaining the enormous financial, health, and environmental benefits of a menstrual cup, we realized most women would consider the swap a no-brainer. In the process, those who bleed would be empowered to learn about their bodies, their cycles, and their period’s impact on the planet.

Our goal was to create a brand identity and package design that rid feminine cliches and showcased a new visual language for menstruation products.

How To Use Instructional Video Material

The Solution The solve included the use of bold colors, clean typography, premium finishes, and straightforward messaging on several of the boxes’ exterior and interior panels. Playful illustrations allow for a more conversational tone to discuss anatomy and how to use a menstrual cup. Unlike typical tampons, pads, and liners, nixit isn’t overly flowery or feminine. It gives it to women straight because they can handle it.
